I like that it can hold a large pot. I have a family of five, and having an extra burner going to get more cooked and prepped is great! It has easy controls and is pretty self-explanatory. It's big but portable. The cord length is a little on the short side for me, but I could always move a table near a plug and cook there now. This will be great when I remodel my kitchen. I'll be able to cook elsewhere while they're working if I need to. It is also good for a tea kettle. I could see this as being good to take camping to cook outside and keep in the car or RV.
I like the convenience of the unit. I have been using a 8" cast iron pan. Everything heats up fast.
If I were to think about a disappointment, it would be that the heat concentrates on about 4" in the center, I was expecting the heat to be more distributed through out the pan.
Maybe placing some info on the top for temperature ranges and relating it to the stove dial indicating from simmer to mid to high might be helpful.

Havent used a hot plate before so had very little expectation. This works better, faster than any stove top Ive used. Definitely recommend if you have a need for one.
