As I was on the lookout for the next coffee machine to buy, I came across quite a unique one. So, read on as I give you my Amzchef espresso machine review, detailing all the pros and cons of this one, along with whether I recommend it or not.
Coffee Taste
This machine boasts a powerful 20-bar, which, to the uninitiated, is the amount of pressure applied by the water to extract the flavors from the coffee grounds.
If the bar pressure is inconsistent or low, the chances of you receiving a tasty espresso with all the right notes are also low.
Thankfully, on the many occasions when I tried this espresso machine, I found that all espressos were of good quality, which surprised me if I’m being honest.
Usually, espresso machines around this price range are very temperamental and produce all kinds of results. However, in this case, the maker’s temperature control system did its job well.
The Design of the Machine
This is one of the better features of this machine. It boasts a stainless steel casing, making the entire machine shine while making it very robust and difficult to damage and stain.
Thanks to this feature, it looked absolutely fantastic in my kitchen.
Another thing I really liked about the design is its LCD control panel. This panel is easy to read and tells me all the important things that I need to know about the machine to make truly good coffee.
It told me everything from whether I needed to refill the water tank, whether I should descale, what temperature it was at, and whether I wanted single cup, double cup, or manual brewing options.
This is incredibly detailed and a massive part of why I loved this machine.
Powerful Milk Frother
I am absolutely obsessed with cappuccinos, and I’m not ashamed to admit it! Because of this, a truly great milk frother is something I really value in an espresso machine.
Thankfully, this machine has a milk frother that produces velvety and creamy milk froth, perfect for my cappuccino addiction, while also being great for lattes when I’m fancying a change in drink choice.
The steam wand was easy to maneuver, and it didn’t take long at all for me to master it. I was even able to try my hand at latte art!
Where Does The Machine Shine?
I often get asked whether the machine I’m reviewing is better for home use, the office, or a small business.
In my opinion, the Amzchef is the most suited for homes. It is a small machine that can fit into most kitchens without being an eyesore.
Plus, it is simple to use, making it the perfect option for first-time espresso machine buyers.
Cleaning This Machine
Cleaning the machine has its ups and downs. The benefit is that it has a detachable water tank and drip tray, which makes those particular components easy to clean.
On top of this, the stainless steel made cleaning the outside of it and getting rid of the odd coffee splashes very easy.
But cleaning the other parts of it, such as the portafilter, steam wand, and brew group, did take some time. However, this is mostly the same for the majority of espresso machines, so it wasn’t such a big problem for me.
The Glorious Tamper
The thing that really stands out with this machine is not actually the machine, crazy right? I found that the tamper was fantastic and of much higher quality compared to other ones that are usually provided.
The average tamper that is an accessory with an espresso machine around this budget is completely made of plastic. Yes, it does the job, but it can be difficult to use sometimes without making a mess.
The tamper you get with this machine is made of metal with a plastic handle.
You press it down, and the spring action allows for a smooth and powerful force that can ensure the coffee grounds are packed together – perfect for a great-tasting espresso.

Overall, I was quite happy with this machine.
The coffee tasted great thanks to the 20-bar pressure, the steam wand produced lovely milk froth, the tamper worked amazingly well, and the wonderful design of the machine was also positive!
Although there were some things that weren’t so great, such as cleaning it, I was quite happy with this one, and created loads of delicious-tasting coffee with it, so I would definitely recommend it.
